The dish has age related crazing as well as discolouration and has two tiny chips underneath the rim

The item is a silver plated serving dish with a rolled rim and the original silver plated lid fitted with handles and a gothic M monogram etched onto the surface

J&G Meakin was founded in 18581, while Alfred Meakin wasset up in 1875. In 1968 J&G Meakin was taken over by the Midwinter Group which itself was taken over by the Wedgwood Group in 1970. In 2000 production under the J&G Meakin name ceased.
