I have seen several brown Bakelite version of this but this is the first green one we have come across

Le Sphinx was an Egyptian themed brothel (maisons de tolérance) that opened in 1931

It does have the small inside pocket at the neck opening and the original ties at the neck

The aluminum has several small dents and some brown goop stuck to the outside

There is no year but it was found with a bunch of wartime and prewar office supplies from a store that went out of business back then

It is not in perfect condition, but it is one of the nicest ones I have seen with relatively few chips and a fairly clean look overall. This would probably be a fairly good upgrade for many collectors. The fork spoon clips in rather tightly. The pictures really say it all, this is a great WWI German mess kit.
