I enjoyed viewing and photographing them as they rested at Wildflower Lake before flying north on their migration

I started my hike with camera gear and tripod in hand and it wasn't long before I began seeing some of the wildflowers I would be photographing this morning

As I left the house before sunrise

What an awesome experience this had been seeing this beautiful and colorful bird so close up
