Chiwara Headdress 05 Our Mushroom table is hand-carvedThese distinctive and sculptural headdresses come from the Bambara people of Mali. These sculptural carvings are worn on the head during ceremonies and rituals and are used to teach social values, agricultural techniques and bring good luck to the harvest. The forms are an abstract interpretation of an antelope, symbolising their connectivity to nature and their agricultural way of life. They also represent the harmony between man and women, often
