I turned the article into a zine to share my experiments and explorations collecting and using wild clay to decorate my pottery and as a way to encourage others to dabble with free

I was excited to see this African pottery form come together with my new earth tone surfaces

I make this vessel form in homage to Ladi Kwali and so many other women potters from Nigeria

Earth Tone Mug including houseplantsWheel thrown red stoneware clay mug decorated with refined clay slips called terra sigillata. I created these decorating slips from clay samples that I have foraged in different states over the years, or that were given to me by other potters. I also used slips that I made from commercially processed clays such as Redart. The green diamonds and interior are glazed. Holds 12 oz. Approximately 3. 5" tall, 3" diameter Microwave safe.
