Arnold) was born and raised in the Watts neighbourhood of south Los Angeles in 1946. At the age of just seventeen she joined the Ike & Tina Turner Revue as an Ikette and began a life long music career. In 1966 she toured the UK with the Revue supporting the Rolling Stones where she befriended Mick Jagger. It was his suggestion that she relocate to London and sign to Immediate Records.
